Claim Offer →Enter your source details once and get a perfectly formatted citation plus its in-text reference — instantly added to a running bibliography you can copy or download.
Incorrect citations are one of the most common reasons students lose marks for formatting. Our generator removes the guesswork entirely.
APA 7th, MLA 9th, Chicago/Turabian, Harvard, Vancouver, IEEE, and AGLC4 — all kept up to date with the latest edition rules so you never submit a citation in an outdated format.
Websites, books, journal articles, news articles, videos, reports, social media posts, and interviews — each with the exact fields that citation style requires for that specific source type.
Add as many sources as your essay needs. Every citation is added to a running list you can sort alphabetically, copy in full, or download as a single .txt file — ready to paste into your reference page.
Every full reference comes with its matching in-text citation snippet — (Author, Year) for APA, (Author) for MLA, numbered brackets for Vancouver/IEEE — so you have both pieces you need, not just half the job.
Generate as many citations as your dissertation needs — no daily cap, no account required, no premium tier hiding the features you actually need.
Delete and re-add any citation instantly if you spot a typo or need to adjust a detail. No need to start your whole bibliography over because of one wrong page number.
Add every source as you find it — your reference list builds itself alongside your research.
Select your required citation style at the top, then choose the source type — website, book, journal article, video, and more.
Fill in author, title, year, and the extra fields specific to your source type — journal name and page numbers, or URL and access date, for example.
Click "Add Citation" and your fully formatted reference, plus its in-text citation, appears instantly in your running bibliography list.
Sort alphabetically, then copy the full list or download as .txt. Paste directly into your reference page — formatted and ready.
From undergraduate essays to law journals — we cover the citation conventions used across every discipline.
Our PhD-qualified editors flag these errors most often in student submissions — check your bibliography against this list before you submit.
One of the most common errors: using APA in-text citations alongside an MLA-formatted reference list. Pick one style and use it consistently throughout the entire document, including headers and page numbers.
Web content changes or disappears. Most styles require an access date for online sources without a clear publication date. Always note the date you accessed the page, especially for wikis or news sites.
If you found a quote in Source B that originally came from Source A, cite it as "as cited in" (APA) or use a secondary source format — don't cite Source A directly if you never read it.
APA, MLA, Harvard, and Chicago author-date all require alphabetical ordering by author surname (or title, if no author). Use the "Sort A–Z" button in your bibliography before submitting.
APA uses sentence case for article titles but title case for journal names. MLA uses title case throughout. Check your style's specific capitalization rule — it's a small detail markers do notice.
Every in-text citation must have a corresponding full entry in your reference list, and vice versa. Cross-check before submitting — a mismatch is a quick way to lose marks on an otherwise solid essay.
Real feedback from students who build their bibliography here every semester.
I built my entire 22-source dissertation bibliography in about 25 minutes using this. The "Sort A-Z" button alone saved me from manually reordering everything by hand at 2am.
AGLC4 support is rare for free tools. As a law student this saved me from buying a paid citation manager just for one elective. Footnote-style referencing came out exactly right.
The "common mistakes" section actually helped me catch a mixed-style error in my reference list before submitting — found three citations in MLA mixed into my APA paper. That would have cost me marks.
Being able to cite a YouTube video properly was a lifesaver for my media studies essay — most citation tools don't even have a video category. Worked perfectly first try.
As an MBA student I use Harvard referencing constantly. The download button means I literally just paste the whole bibliography into Word at the end — zero manual formatting needed.
IEEE citation tools online are mostly clunky and confusing. This one is genuinely clean — added 14 conference paper sources for my final-year project report without a single formatting headache.
Everything students ask about our Citation Generator — answered clearly.
Our 500+ PhD-qualified writers handle the research, writing, and citation formatting end-to-end — fully referenced in your required style, delivered on time.
