Among different leadership styles, distributed leadership style has found importance in recent years. It is also known as collective leadership as it uses all types of leadership resources. Distributed leadership offers the benefit of staff engagement where everyone works in the capacity of a change agent. The administrative leaders enable leadership functions in rest of the staff. Distributed leadership among teachers provides them with better job satisfaction and improves their commitment and performance. It helps them to connect the development of the children to the development of the organization (Department for Children, Schools and Families, 2008).

Instructional leadership is important where the learning outcomes of the child is the main focus. It improves the quality of teaching. It involves the planning of both teaching and learning outcomes, evaluating the plans, coordinating between teaching and learning and developing teaching and learning. It involves deep insights of the pedagogical approach and its application in actual settings. This skill aims at improving the instructional abilities of a teacher.

Transformational leadership is one of the most effective styles applicable over a wide spectrum of disciplines. It involves active engagement of the children irrespective of their age. This style generates emotional development in children by improving their emotional intelligence. A transformational leader considers the individual needs of every child and focuses on their individual growth. When the children are involved in activity decision making, they develop trust and admiration towards the leaders. It teaches them to be respectful (Stuart, 2012).

Constructivist leadership does not direct the teaching or learning process. It is focused on creative the right environment and gathering the right resources to facilitate learning. This style is appropriate for children between 5 to 6 years of age as this style facilitates independent learning and this is the age where children develop the capacity of making individual decisions. Teachers and practitioners engage with the children to implement reflective practices (Davis & Ryder, 2016). The aim of this is to continuously improve on learning and teaching strategies so that participation of the children increases as learning progresses.

Strategic leadership aims at improving the learning environment for the students. Through this style of leadership, the environment for inclusive learning can be ensured. A strategic leader has futuristic vision and make decisions based on evidences exhibited by children. The improvement of the learning environment includes improving the practitioner-child relationship, acknowledging differences in diversity, reviewing current educational policies and engaging in strategic partnerships to harness the benefits of collective strategic thinking (Strehmel, 2016).

I would say that my personal leadership style is both transformational and situational. I work with few numbers of children in each batch and therefore it is possible for me to take up the requirements of each child and also, I face daily challenges to collaborate the staff with the students and their needs and also with the parents. Due to the variety of challenges I sometimes take up a leadership style according to the needs of the situation. Therefore, sometimes I make the decisions or sometimes I let my team make the decisions. My team consists of qualified staff and they are able to successfully take part in decision-making.
